hmm... i figured i might as well update my life up alittle bit since i cant sleep any way. Any way, I've been super busy lately. Im trying to juggle full timing at santa ana with fire science classes and anatomy lectures/lab. Mondays i still lifeguard at waterworks aquatics. Fridays i work for anaheim fire dept. making maps and stuff for their mapping division. The other free days i have are listed as open for my EMT job with doctor's ambulance service. I havent started riding out yet because every other weekend for me so far has been packed with stuff to do so i had to request them off for the time being.

Well last weekend was OCS prep weekend for the Marine Corps. HAHA shit it was a good time. It was what i expected, a high stress level environment where you are constantly being pushed to your physical and mental limits. With all the sea cadet stuff i had in high school it wasnt as a big shock to me. I never thought i'd have to thank the sea cadets for something haha. But yeah, what was a shock was that the sea cadet bootcamp was even more stressful, but im guessing its because i was younger and had no idea of what it would be like. But yeah the weekend was pretty eye opening for some of my collegues to say the least haha. First thing we did was the PFT. For you people that dont know what that is its the Physical Fitness Test. So its a 3 mile run, pull ups, and sit ups exercise. I didnt do so well on it, but oh well it was my first time so i can only do better right? I figure its my stepping stone to greatness haha. Then with a sense of urgency we rushed back to the barracks and changed out into BDUs (Battle Dress Uniforms). Then we got to meet our senior drill instructors. My platoon was lucky enough to have Gunnery Sergeant Danberry. The meanest man in the world. HAHAH shit he was right out of a movie or something. Fuck this Fuck that Fuck you Fuck me... haha it was unending. But the moral of the story is that hes trying to do something. Break apart your civilian shit for thinking self absorbing mind. Hes trying to make you think as one unit, one mind. To be a more efficient killer and survivor. To be a United States Marine. So he drilled us around all afternoon. Then we got some time with our Staff NCOs and our OSO. We went through some small unit maneuvering drills. It was pretty fun in my opinion. My team kicked ass which equals we would of killed alot of bad guys in a real situation. After that it was dinner and lights out. I pulled fire watch at around 2300. It was basically stand outside in the rain haha. Our barracks were also equally shitty. Our staff sgt. P told us that when he was going through bootcamp (nine years ago)... that he stayed in the same barracks... and they were old back then so go figure huh. There werent enough bunks for everybody so if one marine sleeps on the floor then we all do. The floor sucked by the way. Super dusty and there was ammunition on the ground too hahah, but we managed. The next day we were sore as shit. So pretty much that means they will work us harder. They marched us down to the Obstacle course. This thing was no joke. Almost every obstacle that was difficult required a pull up just to start it. So basically it feels like you got crucified by the time it was over. The last part is a rope climb and im not gonna lie... it kicked my ass. It took me a few tries to get up. I blame it mostly on the left handed lieutenant that was instructing me haha. He taught me the opposite way so i strained and it took me longer hahah. After that it was a 5 mile force march with a full pack. Jesus it was a kick in the nuts. Basically your whole mentality is to just keep one foot ahead of the other and do not screw your team mates by running. To people who are in shape, walking 5 miles isnt so big of a deal, but what killed us was the PACE. It might as well been a fucken jog as far as im concerned. Every other step we pretty much rolled our ankles. Well I got through it with out breaking my self, although my feet were barken at the end of it. After that it was another 2000-3000 calories of MRE then we got shipped back home. All in all i had a good time. Nothing i didnt expect. It also gave me a reading of where i am physically so i know how hard i have to work to get to where i need to be.

Other than that this whole past week has been hell too. I missed the burbank fire test cause of a bullshit anatomy midterm. Plus i had a test in every class this week any way. Hahaha yeah man... totally sucked. but oh well seems like theres nothing to do now that theres no stress. Well im gonna hit my rack now. Got some ropes and knots training tomorrow at North Net for anaheim fire and then back to pendleton for my mom's birthday and i wanna run the O course again too... oh well... see ya

This is the essay i turned in for my application.

Captain Horner USMC,

Having the opportunity to serve as an officer in the Marine Corps would be the greatest honor and privilege in my life. Growing up in a Navy family in San Diego, CA the presence of the military was constant. Through these early experiences the ideals of service for my country were engrained in my character and the goal to one day be able to serve my country was one that I have always wanted to complete. Secondly I would like to join the Marine Corps because through my service I will have an opportunity to learn something that you can't learn in a classroom and that's life experiences. I hope to gain the life experiences needed to succeed in life.

hmm...  its been a while... its 5 in the morning... and i have nothing better to do. Yeah, lifes been kinda stressful lately, probably cause i try to pack it into 3 days of crap then 4 days of lazy. But yeah things are cool! I finished my internship on the ambulance company and working in the ER. A very eye opening experience. It kind of motivated me in a way to actually pursue going to medic school. Especially being detached to the CPI medics. They let me bag this lady in respitory arrest! It was ssssick haha. I dont see my self as being a paramedic in the future because I know how burnt out you get doing that kind of work, but at the same time it would be a cool experience going to medic school, and it opens up alot of fire jobs if you are a medic. As for medic school, im thinking UCLA cause Jobie might go there too. That way I wont be alone in this, and it would be cool going to UCLA i think haha. I'd have to live in WestWood though, I dont know how down i am for that, but oh well. Its been new experience time lately for me any way.

Hmm what else is going on... I love my house. Everybody here is chill mode you know, and we are all down for each other. Especially after our last party haha. Yeah some group of asian guys who nobody knew came in to crash the party, they tried stealing our alcohol... even the good stuff that we keep in the closet. Needless to say they got fronted hard core... and they back off and we got our shit back. Its a very miniscule thing i guess, but to us as a house it brought us closer together. We stood up for our pad and we werent gonna let a bunch of chumps disrespect the pad that way.

Dad is doing better... he had to go back because of an infection to his stitching, but its cool. When i go home i get to practice my bandage dressing skills on him. Now he can see that hes not wasting his money on sending me through emt school haha. As for now i just wanna get a fire job some where really. Im kind of tired of the whole schooling thing. I'd rather go for the on the job training and experience haha. Im just sick of being a student. I wanna do something. I talked about medic school... but im thinking marine corps too. haha yah i know. Yeah well just see where I end up...

And everybody have a HAPPY THANKS GIVING... i have alot to be thankful for.

Sound track- "i heard em say" - kanye west
